FAQs

To make sure we prescribe the right medication for your pet, we need an accurate weight. Here are three easy ways to get your pet’s weight:

1. Use the Weight from a Recent Vet Visit

If your pet is over 1.5 years old and you visited the vet within the last 3 months, you can use that weight. Simply check your vet records or call the clinic to confirm the weight.

2. Weigh Your Pet at a Pet Store

Many pet stores have free weighing stations.

Take your pet to a nearby pet store and use their scale to get an accurate reading. The staff can usually help if you need assistance.

3. Weigh Your Pet at Home

If you have a bathroom scale, you can use it to weigh your pet:

  1. Weigh yourself first. Stand on the scale and note your weight.
  2. Weigh yourself while holding your pet. Stand on the scale with your pet in your arms, and note the combined weight.
  3. Subtract your weight from the combined weight. This gives you your pet’s exact weight.

For example:

  • Your weight: 150 lbs
  • You + your pet: 180 lbs
  • Pet’s weight: 180 - 150 = 30 lbs

This method works best if your pet is small enough to carry safely.
